Basically when it detects your device is plugged in for a long time, it stops charging at around 80% (and probably cut the battery). WebThat said, I think you're likely right it's only a feature in SP8 and SLS because my SPX (Surface Pro X) has never stopped charging at 80%. It looks like a useful feature. I'm unkeen to use the Battery Limit Mode because it's only accessible in the BIOS and limits it to as low as 50%. 80% is a much better compromise.
